Rarely does a player who hasn’t had an impact on an NFL game in two years keep coming up in conversation. (Un)Luckily for us, there are no shortages of opinions when it comes to former quarterback Tim Tebow, and Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy is not impressed.
McCoy was recently asked who was the best player not currently playing in the NFL? While the star running back was thinking of an answer, the person asking threw out the name Tim Tebow (of course). McCoy’s response was priceless:
“Tim Tebow?” McCoy said. “My son is two. I’ll take my son over Tim Tebow.”
Tell us what you really think LeSean!
In all seriousness, it’s pretty much the standard answer when anyone brings up the name because Tim Tebow hasn’t been wanted by any NFL franchise in the last two years. He isn’t a viable option in the league anymore and it was a refreshing reaction instead of the same mundane quote so many athletes give these days.
It’s also appears like the entire situation was a set up because the question was essentially asked just so the guy could bring up Tebow’s name to try and get a rise out of McCoy. Why ask about players who aren’t in the league anymore and then bring up Tebow? And for some reason, the mere mention of Tebow’s name still brings an immediate reaction.
No matter what you think of McCoy’s answer or how good of a quarterback you believe Tebow was, the biggest thing to take from the situation is that Tim Tebow remains one of the biggest names in sports while not even playing.
Well that, and LeSean McCoy’s kid has one heck of an arm.
